Oporto British School, in Foz do Douro, Porto, is the oldest British school in mainland Europe, established in 1894. The current Head Master is Mr Tom McGrath. Other members of the Senior Leadership Team include: Head of Primary Section, Mr Mark Evans, Head of Secondary Section, Dr Peter Jones and Deputy Head (IB Coordinator), Miss Nikki Macleod. It is a private, day school for both boys and girls, aged 3 to 18 with approximately 425 pupils on roll. It follows a British-style curriculum until the completion of the IGCSE. Senior pupils then study the IB Diploma Programme and many go on to Higher Education in the UK, Portugal and to many other international locations. It received CIS Accreditation in 2005. It is a member of the European Council of International Schools, the Council of British International Schools and the current Head Master is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. ==Houses== As with many independent schools, Oporto British School is divided in houses.
